Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a competition sponsored by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA). You may visit the NCSLMA website at: www.ncslma.org/BookCompetitions/bookcompetitions.htm. The purpose of the group is to encourage reading at the middle school level. Students are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints by prominent authors in the area of young adult literature. The game format is designed to create interest and excitement in reading.

At Pine Forest Middle School our team is comprised of any interested 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The coach is Ms. Wendy Bozeman, our media coordinator. The team meets weekly in the media center and occasionally after school for pizza and video parties.

What we do:

…read from a selected book list below;
…write practice questions about the books we read;
…become experts on the books assigned to us;
…study questions on all the books;
…practice answering questions as a team;
…attend pizza/video parties;
…compete against all other middle schools in Cumberland County;

HAVE FUN!!
