There are simple steps you can make to assure your child performs well on
the End-of-Grade exams:
- Sleep! A person is able to think more
clearly and recall information better if well-rested.
- Make sure your child is doing their
homework. Double check and review the answers with them.
- Make sure your child has a good
breakfast each morning, either at school or at home.
- Set aside 1 hour to study each day and
provide a quiet place to study/do homework.
- Talk to your child about the progress
he/she is making in each class.
- Talk to your child about the importance
of doing his/her best. When your child has not been successful, make a special effort to boost his/her self-esteem.
- Contact your child's teacher and ask if
there are any specific areas you can help your child work on.
Simple Test-taking skills:
- Get a good night's sleep and eat
breakfast.
- Take several deep breaths and relax.
- Pay close attention to all directions.
Look for and pay attention to summary statements at the top of the
page about the passages you are about to read.
- When you are finished, relax for a
moment and then double check your answers. It helps to act as if you
are taking the test again.
