Thank you for your service last year : Kevin, Audra, Cindy and  Robin!

A NOTE from YOUR PTO

Great schools have three things in common, strong leadership, great teachers, and high parent involvement.  We are fortunate to have Mr. Starks at the helm with a crew of very talented and motivated teachers and staff.  Now we, as Parents and Guardians, need to step up and do our part for our students.  The PTO is the perfect opportunity for you to get involved and make a difference.  We have several volunteer opportunities.  Many of these opportunities are listed below.  Other opportunities will be available throughout the school year.  Volunteer!  The students are worth it!  When each of us does a part, we can accomplish awesome things for the greater good of the students, faculty and school.

President: Angela Meads
Vice-President:
Lisa Duffey
Co-Treasurers:
Amy Burnett and Robin Stone
Secretary: Robin Stone
PFMS AP, liaison & contact: Kim Fleming, Asst. Principal

If you have a question, comment, suggestion, information that you think would be helpful to the PTO Board, or want to volunteer, feel free to write us a note, place it in an envelope clearly marked: PTO Board/Mail Box and send it in to school via your student’s homeroom teacher.  It will be safely delivered to the PTO mail box at school.  We will read and give consideration to each of your correspondences.

Partnership for Education
The Pine Forest Middle School Partnership for Education program, sponsored by the PTO, is launching its fourth year’s campaign.  This is an exciting program for individuals as well as businesses to participate in.  We encourage you to contact those you know and ask them to participate.  In many ways, this program supplements much needed programs for the student’s and PFMS Faculty.

In the past, the PFMS Partnership for Education program funded $3,000.00 towards much needed software for the Study Island that is available for use by all students.  The updates to the software program match the ones being used at PF High School. This offers continuity and lends familiarity as our students advance to the high school level.  The PTO was also able to fund the Teacher Appreciation Banquet last year, which was much deserved, well received and much appreciated.  These are just a few examples of how your donations will help.

The three levels of participation are available through an annual donation from individuals or businesses as follows: SILVER LEVEL = $25.00 DONATION; GOLD LEVEL = $50.00 DONATION; PLATINUM LEVEL = $100.00 donation.  Even more appealing, every penny of each donation made to the PFMS Partnership for Education goes directly to the school and stays within the school to enrich programs that directly benefit faculty and students.  Your donations are also tax deductable!  We appreciate everyone’s support in making this year’s campaign another huge success.

Forms are available to anyone who is interested in participating.  Just ask!  Anyone who participates in the program this year will earn an honorable mention on a PFMS “Partnership for Education” designated page in this year’s Year Book.

BOX TOPS for Education

The PTO is collecting box tops for Education throughout the school year. This is an excellent way to earn “free” money for our school.  Ask grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors to help you collect. Cut all Box Tops and place them in a zip lock bag (please check expiration dates) and send them in to your student’s homeroom teacher – CLEARLY marked on the bag with the HOMEROOM TEACHER’S NAME and GRADE so that the appropriate classroom will get credit for all of the Box Tops that they collect.  To learn more about qualifying products and brands, go to www.boxtops4education.com.

UNIFORM RESALE/RECYCLE

Donate your used school uniform items that are still in good condition to the school.  Student Services has a program, partnered with the PTO, to provide uniforms to those students who are in need.  It may be an “emergency” situation in which a student falls and rips the knees out of a pair of pants at school.  It may be a more long-term need in these tough economic times.  Whatever the case, this is a terrific, inexpensive way to help out & give back.  Towards the end of this school year and/or during next year’s Open House, the PTO and Student Services will also offer used uniform items “for sale.”  More information to come about this program.

PTO BULLETIN BOARD

There is a PTO Bulletin Board located in the Main Lobby at PFMS.  Any time you are in the school, check out the Bulletin Board for current information.

We truly appreciate everyone’s support!
