Student Services

Pine Forest Middle School offers an assortment of services for the benefit of the student body.

PFMS has two counselors:

Heather Barbour-Makowetski   Kendra Delaine

Individual Counseling—Students are able to meet individually with a counselor.  Areas of concern are personal, social and academic.  Students may self-refer, or be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent.

Academic/Behavioral Counseling—Counselors will meet with students who are failing courses to discuss ways to improve grades.  Counselors also meet with students attending In-School Suspension to discuss behavior strategies to prevent further discipline issues.

Classroom Guidance/Group Counseling—Counselors will provide classroom guidance or small group counseling when there is a group need.  Topics covered may include bullying, conflict resolution, study skills, etc.

Social Worker

Ms. Medina is the school social worker who works with students and families to be a link between school, home, and the community.

Advocacy/Consultation/Collaboration—Social worker advocates and consults with individuals about appropriate services, laws, and resources

Assessment of student, family, and school needs—Social worker assesses and addresses needs, characteristics and interventions of home, school, and community

Attendance—Social worker consults about drop out prevention and effective intervention strategies for unlawful and excessive lawful absences and tardies.

Direct Services—Social worker provides services that build upon individual strengths by practices of individual counseling, home visits, and crisis intervention
